The Complete Guide to Using the CVCircuit Extension for Your Job Search
Getting started
Step 1: Install the extension
CVCircuit's extension is available for Chrome-based browsers. Install it from the Chrome Web Store and you'll see the CVCircuit icon in your browser toolbar.
Step 2: Connect your account
Click the extension icon and select Connect your CVCircuit account. If you're already logged in to CVCircuit in your browser, connection takes one click. The extension reads your authentication tokens automatically — no separate login needed.
Step 3: Save a CV
In your CVCircuit account, make sure you have at least one CV saved. This is the base that gets tailored for each application. If you don't have one yet, use CVCircuit's CV builder to create one.
Your first tailored application
Browse to a job listing on any supported board: Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Reed, Totaljobs, Monster, or CV-Library.
Open the extension panel by clicking the CVCircuit icon. You'll see the job has been detected automatically — title, company, and a description preview are shown.
Optional: Check your fit score. Hit Calculate to see your match percentage and which keywords you're missing. This takes 10 seconds and tells you whether you're applying from a strong or weak position.
Select your CV from the dropdown. If you want a cover letter too, toggle it on and select your base cover letter.
Hit Tailor CV. Watch the status messages as the AI works. In 15–30 seconds, your tailored CV is ready.
Submitting your application
On the success screen, you have two choices:
Download: Saves the PDF to your downloads folder for manual upload.
Inject directly: Click the injection card, navigate to (or switch to) the employer's application portal, and click the file upload field. Your CV attaches instantly.
Advanced features
Multiple CVs: Save different CV versions for different types of roles. Select the most relevant one before tailoring.
Cover letter library: Save base cover letters for different contexts. Toggle on cover letter tailoring to produce a matched pair every time.
Job tracker: Toggle on "Add to job tracker" before applying to automatically log each application.
Fit score caching: Your fit score for a specific CV+job combination is cached for the session — no re-calculating if you come back to a listing.
Tips for the best results
- Use the fit score check as a quality gate before every submission
- For highly competitive roles, pair a tailored CV with a tailored cover letter
- Check the job description preview in the extension to confirm the right listing was detected
- For career change applications, review the tailored summary to ensure the framing feels right for your specific context
