How to Attach Your CV to a Job Application Without Downloading It
The problem with job application portals
You've tailored your CV. It's on your screen, ready to go. Now you need to attach it to the job application.
The usual process: download the PDF, open your file browser, navigate to your downloads folder, find the file, attach it. Then repeat for the cover letter. If you're applying to 10 roles that day, that's 20 file-browsing trips.
CVCircuit's direct file injection removes this entirely.
What is direct file injection?
Direct file injection is CVCircuit's ability to attach your tailored CV (and cover letter) directly into upload fields on job application portals — without you downloading the file or using your file browser at all.
On the success screen, after tailoring is complete, you'll see an injection card alongside the download button. When you click it, the extension enters injection mode and waits for you to click a file upload field on the application page.
The moment you click a file input, CVCircuit attaches your tailored PDF instantly. The portal sees it exactly as if you'd uploaded it manually.
Which portals does it work on?
CVCircuit's injection feature is designed to work across the major ATS portals used by employers, including:
- Workday
- Greenhouse
- Lever
- Salesforce (LWC)
- Generic file upload fields across thousands of other portals
How it handles different upload mechanisms
Modern job portals use a range of different technical approaches for file uploads. CVCircuit handles all of them:
Programmatic click interception: Many portals trigger file input clicks via JavaScript. CVCircuit intercepts these and attaches the file at the point of click.
Shadow DOM support: Portals built with web components (like Salesforce's LWC) hide their file inputs inside shadow roots. CVCircuit traverses the shadow DOM to find and target the real input.
Visual overlays: For direct click scenarios, CVCircuit places transparent overlays over visible file inputs, highlighted with a blue outline. Clicking the highlighted field triggers the attachment.
Visual feedback throughout
While injection mode is active, a blue banner appears at the top of the page: *"CVCircuit: Click the upload field to attach your CV."* When the file is attached, the banner turns green: *"Attached!"*
The mode auto-cancels after 60 seconds if no upload field is clicked.
The result: faster, smoother applications
Direct file injection removes the most friction-heavy part of submitting an online job application. You tailor, you click once on the upload field, done. No file management required.
