From Job Listing to Tailored CV: A Step-by-Step Guide

The complete CVCircuit workflow

This guide walks through the full process of finding a job, tailoring your CV, and submitting it using CVCircuit's browser extension — from start to finish.

Step 1: Find the job on a supported board

Browse your preferred job board: Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Reed, Totaljobs, Monster, or CV-Library.

When you click on a listing that interests you, the CVCircuit extension automatically detects it in the background. You'll see the extension icon in your browser toolbar gain a green badge — confirmation that a job has been detected.

Step 2: Open the extension panel

Click the CVCircuit icon in your browser toolbar. The panel opens alongside the job listing.

You'll see the job card: title, company, location, and salary (if listed). Scroll down to see a preview of the extracted job description. If everything looks right, you're ready to tailor.

Step 3: (Optional) Check your fit score

Hit Calculate Fit Score to see how well your current CV matches this job. You'll see a percentage score, strength badges (keywords already in your CV), and missing keyword badges (terms in the job description that your CV doesn't contain).

If your score is below 45%, tailoring will make a significant difference. If it's already above 70%, you're in strong territory — tailoring will still optimise, but you're starting from a solid position.

Step 4: Select your CV and options

From the CV dropdown, select the CV you want to tailor. If you have multiple CVs saved, choose the most relevant base.

Toggle on Tailor cover letter if you want a matching cover letter produced at the same time. Select your base cover letter from the dropdown.

Step 5: Tailor

Hit Tailor CV. The extension shows a progress screen with cycling status messages. In 15–30 seconds, your tailored CV (and cover letter, if selected) is ready.

Step 6: Download or inject

On the success screen, you have two options:

Download: Saves the tailored PDF to your downloads folder
Inject: Click the injection card, then click the upload field on the employer's portal. Your CV attaches directly.

Step 7: Apply

Submit your application with confidence. Your CV is keyword-matched to this specific job description, ATS-optimised, and ready to score well.
