How to Track Interview Preparation Across Multiple Processes
When you have interviews at three or four companies simultaneously, interview preparation becomes a management challenge as much as a learning one. Without organisation, you risk confusing companies, forgetting what you researched, or walking into an interview underprepared because another process dominated your attention.
What Interview Prep Tracking Looks Like
For each active interview process, maintain a dedicated record that includes:
Company and role: Obvious, but critical — especially when you are preparing similar answers for similar roles at different companies.
Interview format: Phone screen, video, in-person, panel, technical test, case study, assessment centre. Different formats require different preparation.
Date and time: With calendar link or conferencing details. The last thing you need is a missed interview because the details were buried in an inbox.
Interviewers: Names, titles, and LinkedIn profiles where available. Knowing who you are meeting lets you research their background, understand their priorities, and address them by name.
Preparation notes: Your research on the company, the team, the role, and the market. Key points you want to make. Questions you plan to ask.
Previous conversation notes: What was discussed at earlier stages — so you can reference it and build on it rather than repeating yourself.
Post-interview reflection: What questions came up? What went well? What would you change? This is valuable for iterating across multiple interview processes.
Managing Your Preparation Calendar
With several processes running in parallel, interview invitations can cluster unpredictably. Map your upcoming interview dates visually — a calendar view shows when you have multiple interviews in the same week and need to prioritise preparation time accordingly.
Do not prepare for all processes equally all the time. Prioritise based on:
- Which interview is soonest
- Which opportunity is most preferred
- Which preparation is most substantive (a case study requires more lead time than a competency interview)
